ICYMI: TI’s Top 10 YouTube Videos of 2020
It’s been a year like no other — one many of us would like to forget! To try and help, we’ve been hard at work developing new video resources to save you time and energy in the classroom, whether you are teaching in person, remotely or in a blended environment. All of our videos are posted on our TI Education YouTube channel, so be sure and subscribe to receive a notification when we post new lessons and tutorials.
Our videos have been carefully crafted to help you understand current trends, follow best teaching practices and help your students grow. And to save you even more time, we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 most-watched videos from 2020 that you can enjoy and watch at your convenience. Knock one out (or all 10) in no time!

10. Enter Press-to-Test mode: TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS graphing calculator (2 minutes)
Getting ready for a test? Discover how to enter Press-to-Test mode on the TI-Nspire™ CX II CAS graphing calculator. This video also shows you how to reset Press-to-Test mode, which will keep the applied restrictions but clear out prior work if another group is immediately taking the same exam. 9. Live Lesson: The Mathematics Behind a Zombie Apocalypse (60 minutes)
During this video lesson, we will show you how to use a virtual zombie apocalypse to help students learn important math concepts such as exponential and logistic growth. And, we also weave in some interesting science topics along the way. Important disclaimer: No zombies were harmed in the creation of this video lesson.
8. Getting Started With TI-SmartView™ CE Emulator Software (4 minutes)
If you are a first-time user of TI-SmartView™ CE emulator software for the TI-84 Plus graphing family, this video will provide some great tips to help you get started. You will learn how to show multiple representations, view key press history, and take screenshots for pasting into other documents. Give us four minutes, and we’ll give you our best secrets for TI-SmartView™ CE software.
7. Python on TI-Nspire™ CX II Graphing Calculator: A Versatile and Easy-to-Use Portable Programming Platform (62 minutes)
Learn how to use Python on the TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator. In this one-hour webinar, we explore the Python coding implementation, discuss the benefits and highlight TI resources that are available for teachers, students and enthusiasts to get you programming with Python today.
6. Visualizing Quadratics | Teaching Tips (7 minutes)
This video offers tips for teachers on how to use the TI-Nspire™ CX Visualizing Quadratic Expressions file with your students. Help students explore interactive mobiles for modeling equations given specific constraints, and use solution-preserving moves to reinforce understanding of how equations work. Best seven minutes you can spend learning how to use area models to help students connect them to the algebraic expressions they represent.
5. The Scientific Method: Middle School Science Video Lessons (17 minutes)
Learn about how to teach the scientific method with Ty Cook, a superstar seventh grade life science teacher from Georgia. He is a master at creating an upbeat, engaging classroom environment and shares his secrets for teaching one of his favorite topics, the scientific method, by experimenting with seeds. Get to know the beta version of our new TI-84 Plus CE App for Chromebook™ notebook computers with Mike Houston, a 15-year veteran algebra and calculus teacher from Pennsylvania. Learn Mike’s tips and tricks for using the app with your students to help make tough-to-teach concepts accessible to all students.
3. TI Office Hours: AP® Statistics (Part 2) (66 minutes)
We teamed up with author and master teacher, Daren Starnes, and Josh Tabor, a 17-year Statistics teacher, to review updates to the AP® Statistics exam. Together, the dynamic duo will take a look at a free-response question and solutions. They also share some suggestions for using TI technology effectively on the exam. While we don’t know what the 2021 exam will look like, these tips are sure to help you get your students prepared, no matter what shape the test takes in 2021.
2. Getting Started With TI-Nspire™ CX Student Software (5 minutes)
If you are a first-time user of TI-Nspire™ CX or TI-Nspire™ CX CAS Student Software, this video is for you. This getting-started video will have you and your students sailing through our software. In just five short minutes, you can learn how to access the emulator and scratchpad, how to open a downloaded document, and how to take screenshots and embed them into documents.
1. TI Office Hours: AP® Statistics (Part 1) (75 minutes)
This was our most-watched video of 2020 — and with good reason! In this video, we dig into two possible “AP-like” free-response questions, and answer questions pertaining to potential AP® Statistics exam topics. While we still don’t know how the test will be administered in 2021, we do know that there are some valuable test-prep lessons in this 75-minute video that will serve all AP® Statistics teachers well.
