The following examples will demonstrate how to perform decimal, fraction, and percent conversions using the TI-36X Solar and TI-36X II:
Example: Convert 1/5 to a decimal.
Solution:
• If using the TI-36X Solar, press [1] [a b/c] [5] to input the fraction. If using the TI-36X II, press [1] [A b/c] [5] to input the fraction.
• If using the TI-36X Solar, press [3rd] [F<>D] to convert the fraction to a decimal.
• If using the TI-36X II, press [2nd] [F<>D] to convert the fraction to a decimal.
The screen will show 0.2
Example: Convert 1/4 to a percent.
Solution:
• If using the TI-36X Solar, press [1] [a b/c] [4] to input the fraction. If using the TI-36X II, press [1] [A b/c] [4] to input the fraction.
• Multiply the results by 100.
The screen will show 25, which is the percentage.
Example: 16 is what % of 90
Solution:
• This problem can be re-written mathematically as 90 * __ = 16. To find the results, divide 16 by 90, then multiply the results by 100.
• Input 16 [÷] 90 [X] 100 [=]
The screen will show 17.77777778
